Learning Outcome: 4

I’ve had a dog for the past 12 years, and even though I haven’t been the best owner due to the lack of time that I have, my sisters have taken good care of him. It is my last year in high school, and probably my last year in Peru. Therefore these are the final moments I have with him. This is why I chose to walk my dog every week for at least an hour.

The learner outcome that came with this activity is the fourth one. The fourth learning outcome states that I showed commitment and perseverance in the CAS experience, this is demonstrated due to the dedication that I put into walking Benjy, no matter how busy I was in a week, I took some time off to walk my dog. This was not only done to improve our physical health but also to reflect on different things that plagued my mind.

Gym

Learning Outcomes: 2 and 4

Going to the gym was always something that my parents proposed as a way to lose weight, I went a few times and then stopped. I didn’t enjoy going to the gym because of the anxiety that working out alongside other people gave me. I decided to try it out due that, being completely honest, I needed another activity for CAS. Although my original intentions were not great, I grew to enjoy going to the gym due to the feeling of relief that it gave me.

The learning outcomes that this CAS experience embodies are the second one (demonstrate that challenges undertaken developing new skills in the process) and the fourth one (show commitment to and perseverance in a CAS experience.

The second learning outcome is shown due that I had to begin developing a variety of athletic skills to be able to sustain a harsh workout routine designed by one of the trainers on the gym. Therefore I had to challenge myself to develop them. The fourth learning outcome is shown due that again, I had to go there at least once a week, being an IB student, it is a time consuming activity that sometimes was limited due to the amount of schoolwork I had. I tried to go to the gym at least once a week for the past few months.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: 2 AND 4

For me, tennis was that sport that I never wanted to do, yet I always felt obligated to do due that my family was so invested in it. Being completely honest, sports were never a big part in my daily life, therefore choosing what I wanted to do was hard, I had no idea what I liked. I decided to take on tennis due that it was the activity that my family had always done and wanted to give it a second chance. The picture from the top is from last week (the first week of November), and the video from the bottom was taken in May. For the past few months, I’ve been going every Sunday to play tennis with my family. The learning outcomes that this experience embodies are the second one (demonstrate that challenges undertaken developing new skills in the process) and the fourth one (show commitment to and perseverance in a CAS experience.

This activity embodies the second learning outcome (demonstrate that challenges were undertaken developing new skills in the process) due that I had not played tennis is year, I stopped practicing at about age four, therefore, when I started again, it was hard to remember all the techniques that I was taught, that is when the fourth learning outcome comes in. I had to be committed to the sport and not quit, even though I didn’t remember everything, I tried to do my best. I believe I have improved a lot since June and I’m happy to continue practicing the sport.
